Festival of Holi
Holi, the festival of colours, is a celebration of spring, of death and rebirth, a time of emotional, mental and physical cleansing; it marks the end of the winter, a time to make amends and the triumph of good over evil.
It is also a fabulously orchestrated 10 daylong rendition of the age-old pious love affair between Krishna, the blue-skinned Hindu God of Love, and his beautiful consort Radha.
Going from village to village, I traveled to Barsana, Nandagow, Mathura, and Baldev, following the re-enacting of a ceremony so old that it has its roots in a mythology lost in time.
